Sydney had her two year check up today. She weighs 28 pounds! I thought for sure she was over 30. So she's 70% for weight, and at 35.5 inches she is 90% for height. She checked out wonderfully and we don't go back for a whole year. Woo hoo!
We hosted her "zoo party" over the weekend at our house. She has talked about this zoo party for weeks now and was so excited about it. After taking her to the zoo a couple of months ago, I decided animals were a good theme for her birthday party because she loves pointing out all the animals she knows. Her Grandma Colleen even made her a dress with animals on it especially for the occasion and it turned out so cute.
I must say looking back, I was a bit crazy for hosting a party at 38 weeks pregnant but in the end it turned out better than we could have hoped. With 40 adults and 17 kids in our house, no one got injured (except Sydney bumping her head) and we had a decent amount of space to spread out. Nick, his Dad, and two brothers Dan and Jonathon were helping us up until the very last minute (literally) put together two homemade storage benches and a coffee table on the back patio so we would have plenty of seating for everyone.
I feel so incredibly blessed with everyone who came to celebrate Sydney's birthday. We could not ask for better friends and family. What do you do to make sure everyone knows just how much you appreciate them? Their time, their generosity, their willingness to just be there for you and your family. It truly means so much!
