One Year Ago...

Well I was about to go to bed but found Nick in our master bedroom with the bassinet in a million pieces, trying to put it together. No, we did not procrastinate on that one at all. LOL.

So instead of trying to fall asleep I pulled up old photos of Sydney (not that I have very many, ha!). I realized that one year ago tonight I was preparing for my last day of work in corporate America. On June 28, 2011 I posted a blog about my "new" job as a full-time mom. It was a decision we had been mulling over for a long time, almost since Sydney was born. Finally things just started to happen that made it feel like we could not deny it was the right decision for our family.

I started working at Sabre, Inc., then owned by AMR Corporation, in June 1998 as a project assistant on a Y2K project for Southwest Airlines. We were working to ensure the planes wouldn't all crash on 1/1/2000 from a computer malfunction (ha! seriously though we were).  My cubicle life continued from there to the finance and defense industries over the next 13 years. Suddenly on July 1, 2011 I was walking out of a cubicle for what I knew may be the last time. I was nervous, scared, anxious, excited, you name it.

The first month I stayed home was rough. I suffered from extreme back pain that would not go away. Finally after seeing a chiropractor and buying a new mattress for our bedroom, I went to the doctor and found out I had some type of infection. One z-pak later and I felt great. Needless to say next time it won't take me a month of back pain to go to the doctor.

Most of my stay-at-home mom life has been experienced as a pregnant mom. It is going to be interesting to see how the next year goes as a stay-at-home mom of two little girls. That is assuming that the stubborn second little one finally decides she actually wants to come around. She has officially held out on having a June birthday, so she won that battle already. I think I am going to have my hands full for a while, and as a result I feel so incredibly blessed!
