Anyway, long story short I have been in the hospital since Monday with an infection that originated in my urinary tract and spread to my blood stream. We have a suspicion of what caused it but there will never be a way to prove it so it really doesn't matter at this point. The urinary infection is a bacteria known as gram-negative bacilli. They are still waiting on more results from my blood work on Monday to find out more about that infection.
The course of treatment for now has been three antibiotics, which the doctors think at least one of them will be effective. Whether any of them will be effective is not really certain. But until they have all of the information, they are going with what they think will work. Sounds great huh? Not really ideal but in this situation you really have no control, you have to trust the doctors.
For now all we can do is pray and be strong. Poor Sydney has been bounced around to a few places since we have been back in the hospital and it deeply hurts my heart. I miss her so much. Nick and Claire have been able to stay with me and I have been able to continue breastfeeding through all of this, which is a relief.
Here are some recent pictures of Claire, and Sydney from my friend April and sister-in-law who have been helping us with her.
