Sydney has now played in three soccer games. She is enjoying practices more and more each Wednesday, and feeling comfortable with her coach. At the games Sydney requires someone holding her hand to be on the field, either her coach or the referee. Thank goodness we have had the same referee at each game, and he obliges with holding Sydney's hand so she can get some time on the field. Our friend Connie came last weekend and took some great photos, I'll post them at the end.
As for the rest of Sydney news, I am seeing more and more of the worst of me coming out in Sydney. Isn't that horrible? Probably because I am around her 24/7 almost, every morning, afternoon, and evening, all day, all week except for when she is in MDO of course. But it is too true that kids pick up your worst habits. Sydney can give the worst "go to H*LL" look you have ever seen. She particularly likes doing this when a stranger smiles or tries to talk to her...yeah, that's greatness. Right now I can still usually depend on Claire to flash a quick smile at whoever it is trying to speak to Sydney, so that lightens the mood a bit. Sydney is painfully shy and desperately emotional, super sensitive and difficult to talk to. Sounds like me right? Ouch.
I am struggling these days to see the good sides of staying home with two kids all day. It is lonely and isolating, despite that "blessing" it should be that my kids are not in daycare. This too shall pass should be painted on every wall of the house. I miss my Mom on the best of days and on the worst of days, well, I just watch the clock for 6:30 PM when Nick will be home to help me decompress. I have been told by more than one person that I need to go back to work. Feels good (not really but honesty isn't always pretty). Sydney will quickly tell me that I shouldn't go back to work though, and that she does not want to spend "all day" at "school." Hmm.
Thanks so much Connie for taking these pictures, they are better than any I have taken at the past two games.
